NARRATIVE:
On March 13, 2020 at about 12:02 hours Deschutes County 911 received a report of a two vehicle, head-on crash on Alfalfa Market Road just west of Dodds Road, east of Bend. Several DCSO deputies as well as Bend Fire Department and Alfalfa Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, the white Ford Escape was blocking the eastbound lane of travel and the blue Dodge pickup was on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway. Paramedics began treating both drivers and the passenger for injuries and ultimately transported all three via ground ambulance to SCMC - Bend with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation determined Kelley was eastbound on Alfalfa Market Road in a Deschutes County Community Development Department vehicle. Petersen was westbound on Alfalfa Market Road, failed to negotiate a sweeping right hand turn and crossed the center line, hitting Kelley's vehicle head on. Alfalfa Market Road was closed in both directions for approximately 90 minutes. Petersen was cited for Driving While Suspended - Violation, Driving Uninsured and Fail to Maintain Lane.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash. Both drivers had been wearing seatbelts at the time of crash. It is unknown if Hill was.
