FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date: October 19, 2019

Released by: Sergeant Kent Vander Kamp

Bend, OR – Bend Man Arrested After Pistol-Whipping Brother During Dispute

On October 19, 2019, at 7:14PM, Deschutes County 911 received a call about a dispute on the 19000 block of Buck Canyon Rd. The caller told 911 operators that a dispute between brothers turned violent and one man was injured after being “pistol-whipped.”

Deputies arrived and found 27 year old, Joshua Adam Fadness, standing in front of the house with non-life threatening injuries. Joshua was cooperative and taken into custody without incident.

The initial investigation found that Joshua and his brother, Jacob Fadness, began arguing in front of the main house. Both men live together in separate dwellings on the property.

The argument became physical and both men fell to the ground where they continued to wrestle. During the struggle, Joshua Fadness pulled a large caliber pistol from his waistband and began striking Jacob in the face and head with the pistol. Jacob was unarmed and sustained substantial non-life threatening injuries.

Other family members and dinner guests attempted to stop the fight before noticing Joshua was armed with a pistol. The family members also struggled with Joshua while attempting to disarm him and secure the firearm. The family members also received minor non-life threatening injuries during the struggle.  The pistol never discharged during the incident.

Both men received treatment for their respective injuries at St. Charles Health System – Bend.

Alcohol and poor judgment appear to be a factors in this incident.

Joshua Fadness was later released from St. Charles Health System – Bend and lodged into the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Jail with the following charges; Assault II, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Recklessly Endangering.
