Narrative:

On September 19th, 2018 at approximately 5:42pm, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of an injury crash on Cheyenne Road involving a motor vehicle and a bicyclist.

Upon arrival, deputies began administering first aid to the bicyclist, Mitchell Peters.  Investigation by deputies on scene determined that Peters was traveling north on Cheyenne Road.  A red 2003 Subaru Legacy driving by Ethan Ropp was also traveling north on Cheyenne Road.

Ropp diverted his attention to an instrument gauge within his vehicle and did not notice that Peters was in the roadway.  Ropp was traveling near the posted speed of 35mph and struck Peters.

Peters was transported by the Bend Fire Department to St. Charles in Bend with non-life threatening injuries.  Ropp was issued a citation for careless driving.

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Oregon State Police and the Bend Fire Department.
