NARRATIVE:
On August 6, 2018, at approximately 6:10am, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office responded to crash involving a motorcycle on Deschutes Market Road, south of Pioneer Loop. The reporting party found the rider of the motorcycle laying near the shoulder of the roadway, unresponsive.
The first deputy arrived within four minutes of being dispatched and began life-saving efforts until Bend Fire Department arrived at the scene. The male rider, 55 year old Robert B. Kragness of Bend, was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
A preliminary investigation determined Kragness was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Deschutes Market Road, when he left the roadway for an unknown reason. The motorcycle and rider then struck a tree along the roadway shoulder. A skull cap style helmet was found at the scene.
The reason Kragness left the roadway is uncertain and there were no known witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office through non-emergency dispatch at 541-693-6911, reference 18-240071.
This investigation is ongoing.
