News Release
Injury Motor Vehicle Crash on Highway 20 East at Ward Road Results in DUII Arrest - 03/16/18

On March 15th 2018 at about 9:49pm, Deschutes County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of an injury motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 20 East and Ward Road. The investigation revealed that the northbound Ford pickup failed to stop at the stop sign at Ward Road and entered the intersection striking the passenger side of the eastbound Volkswagen Passat. Both vehicles then traveled to the northeast of the intersection and came to rest off the shoulder of the highway.

During the investigation, it was determined that Gastiaburu was under the influence of alcoholic beverages. Gastiaburu was arrested and lodged at the Deschutes County Adult jail on the following charges with a total bail of $40,000.00.

Recklessly endangering another person X2
Reckless Driving

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Oregon State Police, Bend Fire Department, and Oregon Department of Transportation.
