DALLAS, Oregon (November 26th, 2024)
On November 21, 2024, the Dallas Police Department responded to a report of a theft in the southeastern part of the city. The stolen item, a stroller, was taken from a local residence. Upon officers' arrival, the suspect had already fled the scene.
Neighbors in the area cooperated with the investigation, granting officers access to home security footage. This evidence enabled officers to locate the suspect, later identified as Eduardo Gilbert Ramirez Picheco, on the bank of nearby Rickreall Creek with the stolen stroller.
When approached by law enforcement, Ramirez Picheco provided false information regarding his identity and home address. However, officers were able to confirm his identity through an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Ramirez Picheco, a Dallas resident, was arrested and charged with Theft II and Giving False Information to a Peace Officer, as well as the outstanding warrant from a neighboring jurisdiction. During the booking process, it was revealed that his blood alcohol content was over twice the legal limit.
The Dallas Police Department appreciates the assistance of local residents in this matter. This case underscores the value of the Surveillance Camera Registration and Mapping (SCRAM) program. SCRAM allows residents and business owners to voluntarily register their exterior surveillance cameras with Dallas Police and help officers solve local crimes.
The SCRAM program serves as a valuable resource, enabling officers to quickly identify and access video evidence in situations like this one.
The Dallas Police Department encourages all residents to participate in this voluntary program and join the effort to keep our community safe. For more information or to register your camera, please visit https://www.dallasor.gov/police/page/scram-surveillance-camera-registration-mapping
