Applicants Sought For LGBTQIA2S+ Older Adult Advisory Group - 10/09/26

The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) is seeking advocates to serve as board members for an advisory group focusing on older adults LGBTQIA2S+ issues. Members advocate for older adults who are LGBTQIA2S+ and help shape state services. The members of the advisory group have a voice in ensuring services and supports provided by the state are equitable.

 

About the LGBTQIA2S+ Subcommittee of the Governor’s Commission on Senior Services

Senate Bill 99, which passed in 2023, created the LGBTQIA2S+ Subcommittee of the Governor’s Commission on Senior Services. The subcommittee identifies needs and makes recommendations on how to improve services and communication from state agencies to LGBTQIA2S+ older adults. Subcommittee members advise the Governor and ODHS.

 

Governor Tina Kotek appoints Oregonians to serve as board members. Terms on the subcommittee are for three years and may be reappointed for a subsequent term. The subcommittee must have at least five members who are LGBTQIA2S+ and at least one member must identify as transgender.

 

There are currently two open seats on the subcommittee. The subcommittee is seeking members who can bring perspectives from all regions and communities across the state, including those outside of major metropolitan areas. Most subcommittee meetings are hosted online.

Applications must be submitted online via Workday.
