Hillsboro, Beaverton events seek input on improving services for people with disabilities - 01/19/18

(Beaverton and Hillsboro, Ore.) -- The Oregon Department of Human Services Aging and People with Disabilities program (APD) will host two meetings to provide an opportunity for government and nonprofit organizations to take part in collaborative discussions about the services that are currently provided and help develop plans for how to improve those services. The goal is to build a coalition of community members dedicated to advancing the benefits and services available to people with disabilities.

Among the questions to be addressed include:
* How to get community members involved in government policy making that effects the accessibility of services to people of all abilities?
* What tools are available to empower people living with disabilities to be change agents for the community?
The times and locations for the two meetings are:
* 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the APD office in Hillsboro, 5240 N.E. Elam Young Parkway, Suite 200, Hillsboro, OR, 97124
* 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2018, at the Beaverton Library, Conference Room B, 123375 S.W. 5th St, Beaverton, OR, 97005
Closed captioning will be provided at both sessions. If you would like to request any other necessary accommodation, including language translation, please email Tracy Applegate at tracy.applegate@state.or.us or call 503-469-2062.
