On Wednesday, October 04, 2017, at 5:42 am, the Douglas County 9-1-1 Center received multiple reports of gunfire heard in the 600-block of Happy Valley Road, Roseburg.
One caller reported he had heard a vehicle crash, armed himself with a firearm and went outside where he found a pickup in his yard. The caller yelled at the driver not to move. The caller's son, also armed with a firearm, came out of the house. Both the caller and his son fired several shots at the vehicle, at which point the driver fled in the pickup.
The pickup was later located by deputies at Poteet Boat Ramp (299 Parkhurst Ct, Roseburg) with apparent bullet holes; however, the occupant(s) of the pickup were not around the vehicle. Witnesses reported seeing a male subject running from the vehicle.
Deputies searched the area, but did not locate anyone associated with the pickup. There were no indications at the scene or in the pickup that the subject was injured.
The investigation is continuing this morning.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Roseburg and Winston Police Departments.
