Inspiring Creative Recreation Art Supply Drive (Photo) - 10/02/25

Roseburg, OR – October 2, 2025 – A new community initiative, the Inspiring Creative Recreation Art Supply Drive, is inviting donations of art supplies to help children in the Roseburg area explore and develop their artistic abilities.

The drive is focused on providing local youth with the tools they need to express themselves creatively through drawing, painting, crafting, and other forms of art. Donations of items such as sketch pads, markers, paints, brushes, colored pencils, canvases, and other creative supplies are encouraged.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to discover and nurture their creativity,” said Koree Tate, LPSCC Coordinator/ H.O.P.E. Drug Court Team Member/Grant Administrator, “By supporting this art supply drive, we are not just providing materials—we’re giving kids the chance to build confidence, imagination, and joy through artistic expression.”  Isaac Simanovicki, Drug Court graduate phase participant agreed and said, “As much as I wanted to do art after school, I was limited by not having supplies.  I want to promote art as a healthy recreational activity among the youth, and this project will help supply them with what they need.”

The Inspiring Creative Recreation Art Supply Drive will collect supplies from October 1 to November 17, 2025. A donation drop-off location can be arranged by contacting Isaac at (458) 244-2899.  All collected items will be distributed to children through two event dates at Painted Horse Recovery located at 1941 NE Stephens Street on November 21 from 2-6:30 p.m. and again on November 22 from 12-6:30 p.m.  This is open to children of all ages.

Community members, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to join in this effort to inspire and empower the next generation of artists.

How to Help:

  • Donate new art supplies.
  • Make a financial contribution to support bulk purchases of art supplies.
  • Spread the word by sharing this initiative with friends, family, and coworkers.

The Douglas County H.O.P.E. Drug Court will host its 111th graduation ceremony on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 5:15 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Cascade Hall. The ceremony will be presided over by the Honorable Judge Robert B. Johnson.

Operating under the Douglas County Circuit Court, the H.O.P.E. Drug Court is an innovative program dedicated to reducing recidivism, addressing substance use disorders, and supporting participants in building new, sustainable lives beyond their past criminal actions. The program highlights personal transformation while focusing on the future potential of each participant.  As part of the program’s final phase, graduates complete community projects that demonstrate personal growth, social development, and motivation for higher achievement. Project poster boards will be displayed in the lobby during the event, showcasing the graduates’ work, process, and success.

Community members are invited to join in recognizing these accomplishments and supporting the graduates as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
