Roseburg, OR, May 23, 2023 - The Douglas County H.O.P.E Drug Court will hold their 102nd graduation ceremony on May 30, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event which will be held at the Douglas County Circuit Court in Courtroom 303.
David Grammon from TrueNorth Star Ministries will be the guest speaker for our 102nd graduation. This event will recognize 4 individuals whose lives have been transformed by the treatment and support provided by the program. With their friends and families in attendance, this graduation will honor these men and women who have completed an intensive program of comprehensive substance use disorder treatment, close supervision, and accountability.
The Honorable Robert B. Johnson stated, “I’m very proud of this group of graduates. The 3 key pillars for our program are honesty, grace and accountability, and this cohort of graduates have taken this to heart. I am elated with their growth. Not only have they learned a lot that will serve them going forward, they have also been positive role models for other participants in Drug Court.” Specialty court programs are vital to the health and well-being of our community. H.O.P.E stands for Help, Opportunity, Pride, and Emancipation. It is an abstinence-based program that connects participants with treatment services, provides supervision through probation, and holds participants accountable through frequent court dates. We have had 611 participants graduate from our program since inception. This includes 324 men and 287 women.
Drug courts and other treatment courts are considered the most effective strategy for reducing addiction, crime, and recidivism while saving taxpayer dollars. The Douglas County H.O.P.E. Drug Court program would not be successful without these team partners: Douglas County District Attorney, Umpqua Valley Public Defender, Douglas County Probation Department, ADAPT, and DHS. We also appreciate the other community partners that support our program.
