With their friends and families in attendance, this graduation will honor these men and women who have completed an intensive program of comprehensive substance use disorder treatment, close supervision, and accountability.
Presiding Judge Kathleen Johnson stated, “our inspiring graduation is evidence of the tremendous impact the Douglas County H.O.P.E Drug Court program has had on our community since 1996.” Specialty court programs are vital to the health and well-being of our community. H.O.P.E stands for Help, Opportunity, Pride, and Emancipation. It is an abstinence-based program that connects participants with treatment services, provides supervision through probation, and holds participants accountable through frequent court dates. We have had 604 participants graduate from our program since inception. This includes 320 men and 284 women.
Drug courts and other treatment courts are considered the most effective strategy for reducing addiction, crime, and recidivism while saving taxpayer dollars. The Douglas County H.O.P.E. Drug Court program would not be successful without these team partners: Douglas County District Attorney, Umpqua Valley Public Defender, Douglas County Probation Department, ADAPT, and DHS. We also appreciate the other community partners that support our program.
