On 1-20-2023 at 10:57 PM Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the report of a woman that was shot in the 400 block of Monroe Street in Ryderwood. The victim is a 41-year-old female resident who was found injured and conscious in her front yard. She was transported to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment. She experienced 2 gunshot wounds to her torso and one to her forearm. Her husband, Lawrence Montero, 55 years old was taken into custody and charged with Attempted 1st Degree murder. Detectives responded and served a search warrant at the scene. They were later able to interview her at the hospital this afternoon where she is recovering from the injuries. The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the Longview Police Department. Emergency medical response was made by Vader/Ryderwood Fire and Winlock Fire and Rescue, who transported the victim to Tacoma. Neighbors in the area are commended for their response to assist the victim while awaiting law enforcement and EMS response.
