At 0119 hours of April 20, 2021 Cowlitz County Deputies were involved in a shooting while attempting to take a suspect into custody near Pacific Way and Ocean Beach in Longview, Washington.  The suspect fled the scene and has not been located at this time.  No injuries were reported. The Lower Columbia Major Crimes Team will be investigating this incident.  Per independent investigation guidelines, the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office will not be involved in the investigation.  Longview Police Captain John Reeves will be serving as team commander for this investigation.

The Sheriff's Office will refer any further media inquiries regarding the investigation to the Longview Police Department.
