At 0817 hours of December 7th, 2020 Cowlitz 911 received a report that a male subject had been shot in front of a residence in the 100 block of Shadywood Ln, Kelso. Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the scene and located a deceased male subject in the driveway with obvious gunshot wounds. The suspect was seen fleeing the area on foot prior to deputies' arrival. Detectives interviewed witnesses at the scene and were able to determine the suspect's identity.
Deputies conducted an extensive search of the area utilizing drone and K-9 search teams. An emergency notification was sent out to residences in the area. At 1133 hours a resident in the area called to report that a subject matching the suspect description was currently walking on Weyerhaeuser timberland behind Shadywood Ln. A search team deployed to the area and conducted a lengthy track through the woods. The suspect was located and was taken into custody.
