The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the promotion of Robert Stumph from Deputy Sheriff to Sergeant effective July 1, 2020. A Civil Service promotional examination was held in June of 2018 that created a promotional list for the Sergeant position. Utilizing the Rule of 3, Sgt. Stumph was selected from the list. He will be one of 7 Sergeants in the Sheriff’s Office and has been assigned to supervise a patrol shift. Stumph is a 2001 graduate of Mark Morris High School and a 2005 graduate of Central Washington University with a degree in Law and Justice. He was hired by the Sheriff’s Office in 2007. In his career he has served as a Patrol Deputy, Detective, and an Agent assigned to the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Drug Task Force.
