Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office Identifies Deputy Slain in the line of duty (Photo) - 04/14/19

The Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office is releasing the name of the Deputy Sheriff who was slain in the line of duty on April 13, 2019 near Kalama. He is Justin R. Derosier who was 29-yoa and leaves  a wife and 5-month old daughter. He graduated from Kelso High in 2008 and WSU with a degree in Criminal Justice. He had served as an Police Officer during summers in College in Bristol Bay Borough, Alaska and was hired fulltime as a Deputy Sheriff by the Whitman County Sheriff's Office. While there he served part-time with the Oakesdale Town Marshals Office.He then joined the Cowlitz County Sheriffs Office in 2016. In his career Derosier has served as a Patrol Deputy, SWAT Officer, and a boat operator. Attached is his Official portrait. Funeral arragements are pending.
