Man shot while sitting in his Castle Rock area home. None life threatening injury. No suspects - 01/08/19

Castle Rock, Wa, - The Cowlitz County Sheriff's office is investigating a report in which a man reported that he had been shot while he was sitting in his home.    The victim, 81 year old Donald Barnell resides in the 6400 block of West Side Highway, which is about 3 miles north of Castle Rock, Wa.   He said that it was shortly after 6:00 p.m. when he reported that heard the shot from outside his house and then realize a bullet hit him in the shoulder.  He immediately reported the event and medical aid and deputies responded to the site. Mr. Barnell was alone in the house at the time of the shooting.  

Mr. Barnell said that he has no idea who would have shot him.   Mr Barnell was transported by ambulance to St. Johns's Peace Health where he was treated.   

Detectives are still on site processing the scene and talking with neighbors. 

We have no photos of the scene to release.   I will not be available by phone tomorrow until after 1pm.
