Cowlitz Deputies sent to Pierce County to help work patrol during funeral of fallen deputy Daniel McCartney (Photo) - 01/17/18

Cowlitz County, WASH: The Cowlitz Sheriffs Office has sent four deputy sheriff to work patrol in Pierce County. They are doing this so members of the Pierce County Sheriff's Office can attend the funeral service for Pierce County Deputy Daniel McCartney who was tragically killed in the line of duty.

Last week Pierce County Sheriff's Office sent a request out for agencies to help with staffing patrol shifts and it did not take long of many agencies to say yes. Even though the Cowlitz Deputies were not familiar with locations in Pierce County, they were honored to help.

The four Cowlitz Deputies who being sent north are: Landen Jones, Justin Taylor, Justin DeRosier, and Craig Murray. Upon arriving up in the area they will be paired with a local officer who is familiar with the area.

Deputy Murray and Jones worked the first two shifts and found working in another county much different than working at home. Attached to this media release is a picture of Murray (on the left) and Jones standing in front of a Pierce County Sheriff's Office patrol car.

As an agency, we want to make a point to say that our hearts go out to the McCartney family and the law enforcement community in Pierce County.

The Cowlitz Deputies are not schedule to be back to work their regularl shift here in Cowlitz County until Friday. They will not be available to be interviewed.

(MEDIA: Please do not call to ask about interviewing them.)
