Firefighters rescue man from 30-foot embankment fall (Photo) - 07/05/20

Cowlitz County, WA – Firefighters from Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue and Longview Fire Department rescued a 54-year-old man who fell down a 30-foot embankment near railroad tracks in the area of Beacon Hill Drive and Mountain View Drive Sunday afternoon at 1:30.  The man was walking his dog on the tracks when he slipped and fell down the embankment and called for help.  Longview Fire’s rope rescue team secured the man in a rescue basket and maneuvered the man up the embankment.  Ten firefighters and a Chief Officer responded to the call.  The man was transported by ambulance to Peace Health St. John’s Medical Center for minor injuries.  No other injuries were reported.
