Morning House fire displaces family of five (Photo) - 02/08/19

Kelso, WA- Firefighters from Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue (C2FR) and the Longview Fire Department (LFD) responded to a structure fire Friday morning at 9:41 in the 800 block of Kiltie Place.  Initial dispatch reported smoke coming from the eves of the single story home. Fire crews had the attic fire knocked down in 9 minutes upon arrival and fully extinguished at 11:34am.  Four fire engines a medic unit and a chief officer responded to the call. Cowlitz County Public Utility District also responded to the call. A family of 5 were displaced by the fire and will receive shelter and other needs from American Red Cross.  Fire officials estimate $30,000 in damages to the home and its contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation, no injuries were reported.

During the duration of the house fire on Kiltie Place firefighters from C2FR and LFD were also dispatched for a possible fire at the Econo Lodge Motel on 505 North Pacific Ave in Kelso.  The fire was contained to an electrical outlet and was extinguished quickly by a single engine company.
