Sunday vacant mobile home fire a total loss - 02/12/18

Kelso, Wa -- Firefighters from Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue and Longview Fire responded to a house fire Sunday evening just after 9pm in the 1000 block of Allen street. Initial reports from the caller to dispatch were that the back of a mobile home within the park was fully involved with fire; the caller believed the home to be vacant. Kelso police officers arrived and evacuated neighboring homes. Fire crews arrived, reported smoke and flames showing from the rear of the trailer, and extinguished the fire in under 10 minutes. Three fire engines, a medic unit, and a chief officer responded to the incident. Cowlitz County Public Utility District and Cascade Natural Gas also responded to the call. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation. The single wide mobile home suffered major fire damage to the rear third of the home and is considered a total loss, according to fire officials.
