Two Arrested Following Disturbance in Northwest Corvallis
On August 27, 2026, at approximately 10:37 p.m., Corvallis Police Department officers responded to the 900 block of NW Spruce Avenue after receiving multiple reports of a disturbance involving knives and baseball bats.
Officers contacted 40-year-old Krystle Ann LaFave of Ishpeming, Michigan, and 41-year-old Wesley Dean Hankins of Marquette, Michigan, both with no fixed address, who were identified by witnesses and victims as being involved.
The investigation revealed LaFave and Hankins, who had previously been camping in the area, became involved in separate confrontations with two groups of people while walking through the neighborhood. During the first confrontation, Hankins allegedly assaulted and strangled a man while LaFave displayed a knife in a threatening manner. A short time later, the pair became involved in another confrontation during which LaFave allegedly threatened several people with a knife and members of the other group armed themselves with baseball bats.
Hankins was arrested for:
ORS 163.160 – Assault in the Fourth Degree
ORS 163.187 – Strangulation
ORS 166.025 – Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree
LaFave was arrested for:
ORS 163.190 – Menacing
ORS 166.220 – Unlawful Use of a Weapon
ORS 166.025 – Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree
Both were transported to the Benton County Jail.
