Male Arrested For Stabbing On NW Kings Blvd - 03/18/22

On March 17, 2022 at approximately 6:14 p.m., officers from the Corvallis Police Department responded to the area NW Kings Blvd and NW Tyler Ave, for a report of a stabbing. When Officers arrived, they found a male, 31 years of age, Corvallis resident, bleeding from stab wounds to the chest. Officers were immediately directed to the suspect by a witness on scene. Officers contacted the suspect, identified as Brenden Getty (22) of Philomath and detained him. Additional officers on scene provided medical aid to the victim who sustained a stab wound to the left upper chest and a stab wound to the right armpit. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Room where he remains in stable condition. 

 

Corvallis Police Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. Upon interviewing the victim, and Getty, investigators learned the two were strangers and had only met minutes prior to the stabbing. It was learned the two met outside of the victim’s residence and the victim invited Getty inside. Once inside the residence, Getty stabbed the victim with a folding pocket knife and ran out the back door. The motive for the stabbing is unknown.

 

Getty was transported to the Benton County Jail where he was booked on the following charges:

 

Assault in the First Degree (ORS 163.185)

Unlawful Use of a Weapon (ORS 162.220)

 

Note: At this time there is no additional information available related to this incident. Any updates on the investigation will be disseminated via a press release at a later date. Effective January 1, 2022, and in accordance with Oregon House Bill 3273, the Corvallis Police Department is prohibited from releasing a booking photo of the suspect in this investigation.
