Death in Corbett House Fire
Corbett Fire District responded on residential fire Tuesday morning (7/10/18) at 12:12 am. Three engines, two water tenders and a squad responded with 24 firefighters.
On arrival at 1220, the small 1-1/2 story home was fully involved in fire and the roof was beginning to fail.
A neighbor indicated that there was a resident still inside the home.
After the fire was substantially knocked down, firefighters began to search for the missing resident and the cause of the fire. Due to information gathered on scene during our initial search, we decided to ask the Oregon State Fire Marshal and the Gresham Fire Department for fire cause determination assistance. We also advised the Multnomah County Sheriff's Deputies on scene to notify their Detectives.
As investigators worked into Tuesday evening, a ladder truck was called in from Gresham to provide an overhead view of the scene.
Corbett Fire turned the scene over to OSFM Investigators at 11:30 Tuesday night.
The fire cause investigation is still ongoing.
The home valued at $250,000, and contents valued at $125,000, were totally destroyed.
Questions about the initial fire response can be directed to Corbett Fire Chief Dave Flood at 503-803-5244 or at chiefdist14@rconnects.com
Questions about the ongoing death investigation should be directed to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
