BURBANK, WA -- Three finalists are moving forward in the search for the next superintendent of Columbia School District, located in Burbank, WA. Following a formal search process that began last fall, the Columbia School Board of Directors have recommended the following superintendent candidates:
* Ellen Perconti, Superintendent/Principal of Mary M Knight School District, Washington
* Todd Hilberg, Principal, Selah High School, Washington
* Robert Bowman, Principal, Harrison Middle School, Washington
The top three candidates are scheduled to participate in final district interviews with Columbia's administrative staff and school board members on Wednesday, March 7th. An open community forum will be held that same evening from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the Columbia High School. All Columbia staff and residents are encouraged to attend the community forum where they will be able to hear from each candidate.
Current superintendent, Dr. Lou Gates, announced his planned retirement in November 2017 after 40 years in education. The Columbia School Board will meet to deliberate following the March 7th interviews, with a formal announcement identifying the successful candidate expected by March 27th. The individual selected as superintendent of Columbia School District will begin his or her position on July 1, 2018.
