On Wednesday, October 12, Oregon State Police Superintendent Terri Davie presented Sheriff Brian Pixley with a Medal of Valor for his heroic actions in the shooting at Grumpy’s Towing on March 31, 2022. In her remarks, Superintendent Davie said “I would like to take just a moment and recognize Sheriff Pixley. You were the first responder that day. You may have known that some calvary was coming but you didn’t know how many or when. It was you that took the initial. You ran the action. You were there for Mr. White and any other community member that may have been there. That is huge, and it is amazing what your leadership to this county has brought. And when I say that, very unsolicited, my team has let me know what it means to have you as a leader in Columbia County. And for that I want to thank you for being a wonderful partner but the leader that this county needs and deserves.”
