News Release

Clatsop County Launches Free Property Recording Alert Service - 10/16/26

New service notifies residents when documents are recorded under their names

Clatsop County, OR — The Clatsop County Clerk’s Office is launching a free Property Recording Alert Service (PRAS) on Friday, October 16, to help property owners monitor recorded documents and identify potentially fraudulent activity.

The service sends automated email notifications when a new document is recorded with a name that a subscriber has registered to monitor. Alerts are sent the same day and include a document number that can be used to look up additional information through the Clerk’s Office website.

“This is another tool residents can use to stay informed about activity involving their property records,” said Clatsop County Clerk Tracie Krevanko. “By signing up for alerts, property owners can learn about newly recorded documents and take action if something doesn't look right.”

How the service works

Residents can register for free at clatsop.co/records. Once enrolled, subscribers will:

  • Receive same-day email alerts when documents are recorded under their monitored names.
  • Be able to look up the type and title of newly recorded documents.
  • Monitor up to 10 names per email address.
  • Receive notifications only for documents recorded after enrollment.

The service is available at no additional cost to taxpayers and is funded through a portion of existing recording fees.

An added layer of awareness

While PRAS can help residents identify potentially fraudulent recording activity, it does not prevent fraudulent documents from being recorded. The Clerk’s Office cannot determine the validity of documents submitted for recording.

Residents who suspect fraud should contact local law enforcement and seek legal counsel.

Information arriving with property tax statements

To help raise awareness of the new service, Clatsop County is including an informational brochure with property tax statements being mailed to residents this month. The brochure explains how the service works, answers frequently asked questions and provides instructions for signing up.

Residents can learn more and enroll at clatsop.co/records or contact the Clatsop County Clerk’s Office at 503-325-8511.
