New Air Quality Monitors In Astoria, Warrenton, And Jewell

CLATSOP COUNTY, OR — Clatsop County now has three new air quality monitors, thanks to a partnership between the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA supplied the PurpleAir monitors to Oregon DEQ as part of a statewide effort to expand air quality data on the EPA's Fire and Smoke Map.
The monitors are active from three locations:
- Astoria (820 Exchange Street)
- Warrenton (Sheriff's Office)
- Jewell (Sheriff's Office substation)

“Air quality can change quickly, and having reliable local data helps people decide whether it's safe to work, exercise, or spend time outside.” said Kelly Braaten, Director of Clatsop County Health and Human Services. "Everyone will benefit from having a clearer picture of air quality conditions in Clatsop County.”
The new air quality monitoring network will benefit the community by:
- Helping individuals make informed decisions about outdoor activities, especially those most sensitive to poor air quality.
- Offering a clearer picture of air quality conditions across Clatsop County.
