Candidates Sought for Fair and Expo Board - 09/15/23

(Astoria, OR) — The Clatsop County Board of Commissions is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving on the Clatsop County Fair Board. The deadline to submit completed applications is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31.

The Clatsop County Fair Board operates and otherwise manages the Fairgrounds with the assistance of staff. This includes recruiting for bookings, scheduling, establishing rental fees, general promotion, food service, concessions, maintenance and all other related operational activities.

The Fair and Expo Budget is supported by a five-year operations/maintenance levy.  The 2023-2024 budget is $1.5 million excluding contingency and includes some major projects such as updating the Fairgrounds master plan, a roof replacement for the Expo Hall and planning for the 2023 County Fair. 

The Clatsop County Fair board meets at 5 p.m. the first Thursday of every month, in addition to participating in various planning and liaison committee meetings. Fair Board members also attend an annual joint session with County Commissioners.

Applicants must be residents of Clatsop County, however, they cannot be employees of Clatsop County or of any taxing district within the County. 

The Board of Commissioners will make appointments from pool of candidates reviewed by the Clatsop County Fair Board.
