The Clark County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of more than $23,000 worth of bicycles and equipment from Salmon Creek Elementary School, including adaptive bicycles used in the school's physical education bike safety program.
On November 2, 2026, deputies responded to the school after staff discovered that someone had broken into a storage trailer containing bicycles. The bicycles were provided through a grant-funded bike safety education program.
Surveillance video shows what appear to be two people removing bicycles from the trailer around 1:30 a.m.
The suspects stole 18 bicycles, including three adaptive bikes designed to accommodate students with different physical abilities. The stolen bicycles included Haro and Fairdale models, as well as a recumbent tricycle.
On Tuesday, November 3, deputies recovered six of the stolen bicycles in the Hazel Dell area. The recovered property is valued at approximately $7,800.
Deputies continue to investigate the theft and are working to locate the remaining 12 stolen bicycles. No suspects have been identified.
Several of the stolen bicycles have distinctive colors that may make them easier to recognize. Photos of the recovered bicycles are included with this release for reference.
The Sheriff's Office is asking the public to be on the lookout for the remaining bicycles. Anyone with information about the theft or their whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Clark County non-emergency line at 311 and reference case #26008263.
