Arrest Made In Northeast Vancouver Homicide -04/02/24

On 4/2/24 at approximately 6:44 am, a man called 911 from the 3200 block of NE Petticoat Lane and reported that he had shot another man with a bow and arrow after an altercation. Deputies responded to the scene, where they located a deceased male with an arrow in his chest lying in the driveway of the residence. 

A witness reported seeing two men fighting in front of the residence earlier in the morning, around 6:05 am. One of the men was reportedly seen walking away with the other following in a vehicle. It appears the two returned, where a second altercation ensued, resulting in a homicide. 

Richard Vanderhoek, the man who had called 911, provided a first name for the victim to investigators, and referred to him as an acquaintance. Vanderhoek was transported to an area hospital for apparent minor injuries. Investigators arrested Vanderhoek on a charge of Murder in the Second Degree. 

This case is active and pending further investigation. The identity of the deceased and the cause and manner of death can be requested through the Clark County Medical Examiner's Office.
