Suspicious Object At Heritage High School Determined To Be Harmless - 04/24/23

On 4/24/2023 at approximately 08:32 hours, personnel from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to a report of a suspicious object at Heritage High School. The suspicious object was located in an outside area near the courtyard.

After the object was discovered, school staff immediately contacted law enforcement and went into a secure protocol bringing all students into classrooms to keep everyone away from the area. No students or staff were harmed in this incident, but the secure protocol remained in place while the investigation was conducted.

Deputies called out the Metro Explosives Disposal Unit (MEDU). MEDU responded and determined the object to be empty and harmless. The object was a package wrapped in duct tape with a keypad affixed to the outside.

After it was determined that there was no threat, the package was removed, and the school returned to normal operation.

CCSO takes all potential threats to schools seriously and will work with district security to investigate the source of the object.
