The operator of the motorcycle in yesterday's collision is identified as Giovanni Abarza, age 47.  Abarza was a resident of Milwaukie, Oregon, and had family ties in Texas. He was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

On 4/2/2021 at 1pm, EMS personnel and CCSO deputies responded to the 8100 block of NE 25th Avenue for the report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.  Upon arrival, EMS personnel attended to a motorcyclist who was lying in the roadway, unresponsive.  Resuscitation efforts were attempted, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the involved vehicle, a 2010 Nissan Altima, was physically uninjured.  The CCSO Traffic Unit responded to the scene due to the fatality.

Initial interviews and scene evidence indicated that the driver of the vehicle, Faith Taylor, 18 of Battle Ground, was traveling north on NE 25th Avenue, making a left turn onto NE 81st Street.  Her vehicle was struck by the motorcycle, which was traveling south on NE 25th Avenue.  The motorcycle collided with the vehicle at the right rear quarterpanel.

The deceased motorcyclist was a 47 year old male.  The motorcyclist's name is being withheld at this time, pending notification of next of kin.

Taylor stayed at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.  The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

NE 25th Avenue between NE 80th Street and NE 86th Street was closed for approximately 4 1/2 hours during the investigation.  The roadway has since re-opened.
