Stabbing suspect arrested - 06/08/19

On 6.8.19 at 1137 hours Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched the Applebee’s Restaurant located in the 13100 block of NE Hwy 99 for a stabbing. 9-1-1 callers reported a stabbing had just occurred and the suspect was leaving the area on foot and provided a description of the stabbing suspect.

A Deputy arriving on scene, just moments after the initial call, located the suspect and provided him with commands but he refused to comply.  A taser was deployed and after other Deputies arrived on scene the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Early investigation indicates the suspect initially attempted to stab a subject seated in a car in the parking lot.  The driver of the car , fearing being attacked, was able to reverse away and remove himself for the situation.  HIs car was damaged while fleeing the suspect.

The victim of the stabbing was walking his dog in the parking lot and was approached by the suspect and stabbed.  The victim of the stabbing walked to the restaurant to summon aid and awaited medical assistance. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

It appears none of the individuals involved in this incident were known to each other.

The suspect, identified as CARPENTER DAVID W DOB: 19621106. David was booked into the Clark County Jail on one count of Assault 1 and one count of attempted Assault I. Additional charges could be filed.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Detective Unit responded and will conduct the remainder of the investigation involving this incident.

No further information will be released at this time. Investigation on-going.
