Clark County homicide suspect arrested - 04/09/19

In February 2019, Michael Chad Holmes (aka Chad Holmes) was reported missing to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.  Holmes went missing under suspicious circumstances.  Holmes was last seen entering a tan colored GMC Yukon.  The suspected Yukon was located in March in the Lewis River.  Trace evidence was located in the recovered vehicle which tied the vehicle to Holmes.  On Saturday 04/06/19, a body was recovered from the Washougal River near Hathaway Park.  The body appears to be Michael Chad Holmes and had an apparent traumatic injury to his head. 

 

On 04/09/19, the Clark County regional SWAT team along with detectives from the Clark County Major Crimes Unit, Tactical Detective Unit, and the Drug Task Force, arrested 47 year old Randy John Schmidt in connection with Holmes’ disappearance.  A search warrant was also served on Schmidt’s residence.  Schmidt was booked into the Clark County Jail for Murder in the 2nd degree.  Clark County Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate.
