News Release
Driver arrested after Hit an Run at Wal Mart - 12/14/18

On 12.12.18 at 1257 hours Clark County Deputies were dispatched to a Hit and Run collision at the Wal Mart store located at 9000 NE Highway 99. It was reported that a vehicle had hit an employee,  then the building with the driver fleeing from the vehicle.  The plate provided to 9-1-1 by citizens returned to a stolen vehicle. Witnesses provided a detailed description of the fleeing driver and a direction of travel.  The described driver was located by responding Deputies sitting/leaning on the center jersey barriers that separate north and south bound lanes of travel on I-5 between NE 78th St and NE 99th St.

Deputies contacted the subject who appeared to be sleeping or passed out on the barriers and a struggle ensued in the narrow center median to detain the subject.  Eventually the subject was detained, a dose of Narcan was administered and he was later transported to a local hospital for treatment of possible overdose symptoms.  During the struggle with the subject a Deputy received minor injuries that did not require medical treatment. The person who was hit was treated for minor injures.

After treatment at the hospital the subject was transported and booked into the Clark County Jail for Felony Hit and Run, Possession of a stolen car, Possession of a controlled substance and a felony warrant for his arrest issued by the Department of Corrections. 

The subject was identified as : Michael Alan Huston 8.9.1995

It is unknown if the driver was distracted by a cell phone or under the influence of narcotics at the time of this incident.
