The Life and Rebirth of North Clark County’s Cedar Creek Grist Mill
Woodland, WA – On Thursday, August 2, the Clark County Historical Museum (CCHM) is teaming up with the Friends of the Cedar Creek Grist Mill Volunteers to showcase one of North Clark County’s historic gems. Together they will be hosting CCHM’s next First Thursday speaker event within the 1876 Cedar Creek Grist Mill – located at 43907 NE Grist Mill Rd, Woodland, WA 98674. The event is FREE for everyone; donations in support of the Friends of the Cedar Creek Grist Mill are appreciated. Doors open at 6:30 pm; the event begins at 7:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to get there early, as it is first-come, first-served seating.
August’s First Thursday speakers will include volunteers Jeff Berry, Pete Catching, and Fred Schulz using their living and oral history traditions to share stories about the Mill's history, restoration efforts, and future plans. These passionate local residents will present tales of early electricity, water, and how grains filled the tables and bellies of the surrounding area.
Brad Richardson, CCHM’s Executive Director, states, “North Clark’s rich and important history is illuminated by the amazing and ongoing restoration work done by the Friends of the Cedar Creek Grist Mill.” He continues, “In a picturesque setting and inside those historic walls, they tell a unique and place-centered story. We are deeply honored to spotlight their dedication to saving and sharing its history with us all.”
