Clark College Partners With Local Businesses For Community Education Classes (Photo) - 10/01/26
Fall offerings include goat yoga, beadwork, floral design, band classes, and hands-on car maintenance
VANCOUVER, Wash. — Clark College’s Community and Continuing Education (CCE) is partnering with local small businesses and professionals to bring a new selection of hands-on learning experiences to the community this fall.
Through these partnerships, community members can learn directly from local experts while exploring creative, practical, and sometimes unexpected subjects.
At Clark College, CCE Director Ann Campbell says some of the best learning experiences are happening right here in our community. She describes these partnerships as what community education is all about: connecting people, sharing knowledge, supporting local businesses, and creating opportunities to learn something new.
When community members take a Community Education class, they are not just learning a new skill but also supporting the local businesses and talented people who make our community unique.
This fall’s offerings include everything from yoga with goats and traditional beadwork to playing in a band, floral design, and hands-on car maintenance.

It’s the perfect mix of movement, smiles, and unforgettable farm-fresh fun, while giving students a chance to experience a local Ridgefield farm in a whole new way. This term, CCE is partnering with local artist Natalie Mitchell of the Potawatomi Nation. Students can explore the art and cultural traditions of Native American beadwork while creating their own pair of brick stitch beaded earrings. It’s more than a creative workshop — it’s an opportunity to learn a traditional technique, understand its cultural significance, and support a local maker. No prior experience is required, but students should be comfortable working with very small needles and beads.

Where: School of Rock, 1825 SE 164th Ave, Suite 120, Vancouver, WA 98683
Our partnership with School of Rock Vancouver continues after a hugely successful singing class last term. This term, students can take the stage with I’m With the Band, learning bass, guitar, vocals, keyboards, or drums while experiencing the excitement of rehearsing and playing together as a real band. School of Rock is already an important part of our local music community, providing music education and performance opportunities for students of all ages. Through this partnership, Community Education students get to step into that community and learn in an authentic music environment.

Whether creating a winter or holiday centerpiece, students get to learn from local floral experts and take home something beautiful they’ve created themselves.

Building on Basic Car Maintenance for Everyone, the new Car Maintenance 2: Hands-On Workshop lets students learn by doing. Participants will work through common maintenance tasks such as an oil change, replacing an air filter, and other simple repairs they can tackle at home—building practical skills, confidence, and a better understanding of their vehicles. Green Drop Garage’s commitment to sustainable auto care and community service makes this partnership a natural fit for Community Education. Students gain useful, real-world skills while learning from professionals who know their craft.
