EXTREME FIRE DANGER: High winds make it difficult to battle multiple vegetation fires. Clackamas Fire with the aid of several surrounding agencies managed to contain several dangerous fires last night and into today. The first at 16300 SE Agnes ave. could be seen from I-205. The fire quickly spread through thick blackberry bushes, and was held back at several structures. The second fire off Bradly and Redland rd in Oregon City was contained to 10 acres over the course of 6 hours. Four residents had to be evacuated but were allowed to return by morning. The area is still experiencing high levels of smoke due to burn piles still on fire. The fire was started when high winds brought down a power line igniting very dry fuels.
As we started Tuesday multiple fires have been reported in Estacada, off I-205, and in the Oregon City area. Decreased visibility and the presence of multiple fire apparatus moving through the area make this a spot to avoid.
Lastly Clackamas FIre and neighboring agencies request all residents eliminate any open flame. If possible create a defensible space around your home. Cut down grasses and vegetation up against the home and clear away any burning materials that may ignite.
