Effective immediately, Backyard and Agricultural burning is closed within the service area of Clackamas Fire, due to no forecasted rain, prolonged high temperatures and increasingly dry fuels. The closure will remain in effect through the weekend with conditions and status of burning scheduled to be reevaluated on Monday May 13, 2019. The use of approved recreational fires and BBQ’s are still allowed with precaution.
Spring is a good time to take a look at your property and create a defensible space in the event of a wildfire. Take these steps to reduce the risk of a fire spreading to your home:
- Remove debris from gutters
- Limb up trees and remove "Ladder Fuels" such as tall grass or shrubs that allow for easy fire travel
- Keep plants and lawn watered and green
- Move wood piles or other flammable material well away from your house
