News Release
Clackamas Fire District #1 Improves Fire Protection Rating - 04/11/18

Clackamas Fire District #1 has received an improved Fire Protection Classification through the Insurance Services Office (ISO). Many insurance companies use ISO’s Fire Protection Rating for establishing fire insurance premiums for residential and commercial properties. The ISO rates from 1 to 10, with 1 being best. An improved rating should result in lower fire insurance premiums for those within the Clackamas Fire service area.

ISO recently announced that Clackamas Fire’s Fire Protection Classification was upgraded to a Class 2. Previously Clackamas Fire had a protection classification of a Class 3, since it was last rated in 2005. In 2017, Boring Fire District #59 annexed into Clackamas Fire and prior to annexation that service area was a Class 3 and a Class 5 in rural areas. The new Class 2 rating applies to all areas protected by Clackamas Fire, to include the newly annexed areas.

The Public Protection Classification is assigned following a comprehensive review of all aspects of the district, available firefighting water supply, and public communication system. The district's improved rating is a direct result of their continued self-evaluation and improvement, and their focus of improving customer service.

For more information about how this improvement by Clackamas Fire District #1 directly impacts your fire insurance premiums, the district recommends you contact your home insurance provider.
