News Release
First Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station Now Available in West Linn! - 12/08/21

WEST LINN, OR – December 8, 2021

The City of West Linn is excited to announce the first public electric vehicle (EV) charging station in West Linn is now operational and available for use! The fast-charging Level 2 EV station is located in the parking lot at City Hall (22500 Salamo Rd), adjacent to Cascade Summit Town Square, and can accommodate two electric vehicles simultaneously. The two charging cables reach three prime City Hall parking spaces, one of which is ADA accessible.

“It’s important as a city to assist any way we can to make owning an electric vehicle as easy as possible,” said West Linn Mayor Jules Walters. “Our new charging station at City Hall does just that! I’m grateful for PGE’s investment in our local electric infrastructure and their commitment to a more sustainable future.”

Public Works Director Lance Calvert noted “the new charging stations are available any time, every day, and compatible with all electric vehicles using the standard J1772 plug – including Tesla with the standard adapter,” Calvert continued, “they will automatically adjust to the optimal power output for your vehicle to provide safe and convenient charging, and the 40 amp 9.6 KW charger will charge faster than most other Level 2 units on the market today.”

In addition to the public EV charger, the City has also installed additional chargers in the City Hall fleet parking garage to accommodate up to four City-owned electric vehicles. These EV chargers will provide charging access to several City-owned vehicles currently in our fleet, and help us further reduce our carbon footprint by transitioning towards our goal of a larger electric vehicle fleet in the coming years.

This project has been made possible by DEQ's Oregon Clean Fuels Program via the PGE Drive Change Fund.
