City And National Park Service To Host A Flight Through Time At Pearson Field (Photo) - 07/15/26
Vancouver, Wash. - The City of Vancouver and the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site will host the community at Pearson Field (101 E. Reserve St.) and Pearson Field Air Museum (1115 E. Fifth St.) for a free, family‑friendly celebration on Saturday, August 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A Flight Through Time at Pearson Field celebrates history, innovation, and community with activities for everyone from families to experienced pilots. The event will feature guided walking tours, museum exhibits, flight simulators, Civil Air Patrol presence and community outreach, aviation-inspired art, and paper airplane competitions. Visitors are invited to explore the Pearson Field Education Center. Throughout the event, guests can enjoy live music and food from vendors.
The 99s, the historic organization of women aviators, will unveil a freshly painted Compass Rose mural. Local historian and author Martin Middlewood will give a talk on his recent book about Pearson Field. View displays of static aircraft and vintage cars, then vote for your favorite. The People’s Choice Awards will be presented at the end of the event.
The Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team (FAAST) and the Washington Pilots Association (WPA) will host workshops for WINGS credit in the Tex Ranken Theater inside the Pearson Field Air Museum.
C-TRAN will offer free shuttle rides between Pearson Field and parking lot A at 405 E. 5th St., Vancouver, WA 98661. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the shuttle will run every 30 minutes starting at the parking lot. There is no parking at Pearson Field. Visitors are encouraged to park on the street or in parking lot A, then walk or shuttle to the event.
With over 100 years of flight, Pearson Field’s rich history inspires the next generation of pilots and aviation enthusiasts. The event offers something for everyone, from seasoned pilots earning safety credits to families discovering flight for the very first time.
