Vancouver City Council to interview six candidates for vacant council seat - 01/07/19

Vancouver, Wash. — Of the eighteen applicants that applied to fill the vacancy on Vancouver City Council, six have been chosen to proceed with interviews. Interviewees’ names can be viewed on City’s website (cityofvancouver.us/council-vacancy).

City Council held a special meeting this evening for the purpose of reviewing candidate qualifications and selecting those to be interviewed. The six selected candidates will be interviewed beginning at 4 p.m. on Jan. 14, in Council Chambers at Vancouver City Hall.

At the conclusion of the Jan. 14 interviews, Council will adjourn into an executive session for deliberations and return to the public session to make nominations and act on an appointment. Once a selection is made, the new councilmember will take his or her oath of office on Monday, Jan. 28.

Vancouver City Council’s executive sessions are not open to the public or media. However, all actions of the council on Jan. 14, including candidate interviews, will be open to the public and broadcast live on CVTV and www.CVTV.org. Vancouver City Council meets in chambers at Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. 6th St.
