Draft environmental assessment for proposed Pearson Field Airport improvements available for public comment - 02/13/18

Vancouver, Wash. -- The City of Vancouver and the Federal Aviation Advisory seek public review and comments on a draft environmental assessment of proposed airport improvement projects at the Pearson Field Airport.

The assessment examines the potential environmental impacts of a proposed series of airport improvement projects designed to improve safety and efficiently accommodate current and anticipated use of the airport as a base for aircrafts.

The assessment will be available for review beginning Wednesday, Feb. 14 at www.pearsonfieldairport.com or in-person at the following locations:

* City of Vancouver -- City Hall
415 W. 6th Street, Vancouver, WA 98660
* Seattle Airports District Office -- Federal Aviation Administration
1601 Lind Avenue, S.W., Suite 250 Renton, WA 98057

Written comments and requests for a public hearing on the assessment can be submitted now through March 16, 2018 at 5 p.m. via email (preferred) or mail to either:

About Pearson Field: Pearson Field is one of the oldest operating airfields in the U.S. and in Sept. 2012 received national recognition through the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) as a historic aerospace site. Located directly east of I-5 and just north of Highway 14 and the Columbia River, Pearson Field is easily accessible by land and air. The airport is operated by the City of Vancouver, Washington, which owns 61.8 acres of the 134.4-acre airport site. The remaining 72.6 acres are owned by the National Park Service and lie within the Vancouver National Historic Reserve. Pearson Field is the only airport in the U.S. that operates totally within the boundaries of a national historic reserve.
