City of Tualatin Selects Program Delivery Team to Oversee Transportation Projects

The engineering firm Murraysmith has been selected to lead the program delivery team that will implement the City of Tualatin’s bond-funded transportation projects.

The Tualatin Moving Forward program encompasses the $20 million in congestion relief and traffic safety improvements approved by Tualatin voters last May. The new team will have lead responsibility for keeping multiple projects on-track, built on-time and within budget.

“The City has never taken on this many projects at one time”, explains Tualatin’s public works director Jeff Fuchs, P.E. “We’re counting on the program delivery team’s deep experience to help us handle as many as 40 projects all across the city.”

Troy Bowers, PE, will lead the Murraysmith team. His experience includes high level municipal programs and projects for more than 25 years. He managed large scale transportation projects and programs over the past 15 years in Lake Oswego, West Linn, Wilsonville, Tigard, Sherwood and other cities.

“I’m excited to see the City of Tualatin’s strong commitment to completing all of these projects promised to voters within the limited time and budget”, says Bowers.

In Lake Oswego, Bowers and Murraysmith recently wrapped up the first year of a four-year, $30 million pavement management program including rehabilitation and preservation of priority routes, and design and construction of four capital improvements.  Murraysmith is a regional engineering firm specializing in transportation design and construction management. The firm was founded in Portland in 1980 and has grown to 175 employees with offices across the Pacific Northwest.

The program manager will join other members of the Tualatin Transportation Team already in place, including City Manager Sherilyn Lombos and public works director Fuchs.

The program is already off to a fast start. Five projects will be finished within the first months of the five-year timeline – by early 2019. One has already been completed: the buffered bike lanes and pedestrian crosswalk installed on 115th Avenue near Hazelbrook School.
