Man Drowns In Pacific Ocean Off Seaside Beach (Photo) - 07/30/26

SEASIDE, Ore. – July 30, 2026 – On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at approximately 7:27 p.m., Seaside Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a possible water rescue off Avenue T in Seaside. Seaside Police Department officers arrived and saw two people in the surf signaling for help.
 

Seaside Fire & Rescue, Cannon Beach Fire & Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to assist, launching jet skis and swimmers to support the efforts. A short time later, rescuers pulled a 41-year-old man from the water. He was transported to Providence Seaside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.


Two fire department responders were treated and released for injuries sustained during the rescue.
 

With warmer weather forecast for the upcoming week, Seaside officials remind the public that ocean waters can present serious dangers. Beachgoers should use extreme caution, use a buddy system, and avoid swimming in areas known for rip currents.


Seaside Fire & Rescue was assisted by Cannon Beach Fire & Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard, Medix, and the Seaside Police Department.
