Salem, Ore. —The City of Salem is excited to announce the arrival of our newest fully electric compact sweeper and looking for anyone with the gift for puns to help name it! As the new vehicle prepares to roll out onto our paths, streets, and alleys this summer, we invite you to help us by naming it! Enter your name suggestion here and be sure to leave your contact information if you want credit for your creativity.
The eSwingo 200+ EV Sweeper is a fully electric compact sweeper capable of picking up leaves and debris in narrow spaces like park trails, bike paths, and narrow alleys. The Sweeper is 100% electric, with 0% carbon dioxide emissions, can operate for 10 hours before recharging, and has a low noise emission, with a sustainable and responsible design.
The City of Salem was awarded $337,443 to purchase a new electric battery-powered compact street sweeper. This project has been made possible by DEQ’s Oregon Clean Fuels Program via the PGE Drive Change Fund, established in 2019. The Drive Change Fund has awarded millions of dollars in new electric vehicles and chargers throughout Oregon. The addition of this small but mighty sweeper will also help with the City’s Climate Action Plan Strategy #TL 30 emphasizing the transition of all city vehicles to electric vehicles.
The City of Salem is taking action to respond to climate change. Thank you, to DEQ’s Oregon Clean Fuels Program and PGE, for supporting the City of Salem in the journey towards a cleaner, greener future. To learn more, go to portlandgeneral.com/drivechangefund.
