Salem, Ore. — Drivers who use Hilfiker Lane SE near Commercial Street may experience travel disrupted by paving activities over the next week. To minimize traffic disruptions, crews will be working during the overnight hours to complete this phase of the project starting September 19, 2024, through September 30, 2024. 

During the overnight hours, flaggers will be on-site to direct traffic. Drivers should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes, if possible.

Location: Hilfiker Lane SE at Commercial Street SE, Salem, OR.

Construction Schedule: 

• Thursday night, September 19: Asphalt pavement grinding operations from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
• Sunday night, September 22: Final asphalt paving from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
• Wednesday night, September 25: Deactivation of the temporary traffic signal and activation of the new traffic signal from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
• Monday night, September 30: Asphalt pavement striping from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Caution: The City of Salem advises drivers to avoid the area, if possible, during these hours. Those who must travel through the construction zone should plan for potential delays and exercise caution when driving near construction crews.
